Tour: XI27 Code: F

Join us for a Pilgrimage through Italy in the Footsteps of St. Francis of Assisi, starting at $5,798* from Los Angeles or New York, departing on October 11, 2027.

Arrive in Rome for a relaxing walk on Palantio Hill. Attend a Papal Audience with Pope Leo (If he is in the Vatican), explore Trastevere and the Church of St. Francis a Ripa, visiting the Basilica of St. Lawrence Outside the Walls, the Vatican Museums with the Sistine Chapel and Raphael Rooms, St. Peter’s Basilica, as well as St. Mary Major, the Holy Stairs, and St. John Lateran.

Then travel to the Franciscan sanctuaries of Poggio Bustone and Greccio, followed by time in Assisi. In Assisi and the surrounding area, activities include walking the “Perfect Joy” leg of the St. Francis Way to the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels (Porziuncola), the Convent of St. Damiano, the Basilica of St. Clare, the Basilica of St. Francis with Giotto’s frescoes and the saint’s tomb, and the Carceri Hermitage.

Additional visits feature the Sanctuary of La Verna (site of the stigmata), Spoleto’s Duomo, Perugia’s historic center, Gubbio (linked to the story of the wolf of Assisi), and Castel Gandolfo.

3 domestic flights — already included in your price

Most travelers don’t realize how far apart these cities are — or how much domestic flights cost when booked independently. These tickets run $300–500 per person and require separate booking, check-in, and logistics.

In this tour, domestic flights are included in your price. We book them on your behalf. You don’t search, you don’t book, you don’t pay extra. You just show up.

That’s $600–1000 in flights per couple — already taken care of.

The route starts from the old town center of Perugia and descends towards the valley. You will reach the Basilica of St Mary of the Angels first. This Basilica is where St. Francis spent most of his life and is made up of two structures: the Porziuncola, where St. Francis founded his order, the Friars Minor (Franciscans), and the Capella del Transito, where St. Francis died. This afternoon, visit the Convent of St. Damiano, where St. Francis received his miraculous calling in 1205 and where St. Clare died in 1253. (B, D) Overnight in Assisi.

Why travel with FAVOR TRAVEL— not directly with a local company

Someone is on your side from the first call to the flight home

A local Turkish operator sells you an itinerary. FAVOR Travel walks with you from the first conversation to the moment you land back home. When a flight changes, a hotel shifts, or your group needs flexibility — we handle it. You don’t figure it out in a foreign country, alone.

Your guide knows the Bible — not just the ruins

We carefully select guides who bring Scripture to life on-site. When you stand in the Great Theatre at Ephesus and read Acts 19 — your guide opens the Word in the place where it happened. That’s a different experience entirely from a history lecture.

All domestic flights — booked, managed, and included

Flights are inside your tour price. You don’t search for them, you don’t book them separately, you don’t worry about check-in logistics. We handle it. That’s $600–1000 per couple already covered.

10+ years of faith-based travel

FAVOR Travel specializes in biblical and faith-based group tours. We understand how ministry works on the road, how church groups travel, and what matters most to believers making this pilgrimage.

Traveling as a church? We build the spiritual experience around you

The Seven Churches of Revelation is one of the most powerful itineraries a congregation can take together. Walking through Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea — every church letter in Revelation becomes personal, not historical.

For groups of 15 or more, we offer:

  • Fully customized spiritual itinerary — worship, Scripture reading, and prayer at each site
  • Dedicated devotional time on-site — designed around your pastor’s vision
  • Best group pricing — the more people, the lower the per-person cost
  • Flexible dates — we work around your church calendar
  • For 20+ people: option to extend to 10–14 days and add more destinations

Your pastor leads the spiritual journey. We make sure everything else runs perfectly.

✦ GROUP OF 20+? We can extend your journey to 10–14 days, add exclusive destinations, and offer our best group pricing.

Enhance Your Journey

Malta Pre-Tour

October 7 (TH) – Depart from Home
Make your way to your local airport, where you will board your overnight flight(s).

October 8 (FR) – Arrive in Malta
Upon arrival, collect your luggage and proceed to the arrival hall, where you will be met by a tour guide and/or driver and transferred to your hotel. Your guide will share the Maltese Islands’ rich history of St. Paul and Christianity, and you will attend Mass at a local church before dinner at your hotel.
Overnight in Qawra.

October 9 (SA) – The Three Cities
After breakfast at your hotel, depart for a full-day guided excursion to the Three Cities of Vittoriosa, Cospicua, and Senglea. In 1530, the Knights of St. John settled here on the east coast in the creeks of Grand Harbor. Next, see the Miraculous Statue of Jesus Christ the Redeemer in the Oratory of the Basilica, dedicated to the Virgin Mary's birth in Senglea. Later, take a typical harbor boat tour from Vittoriosa across the Grand Harbor to Valletta and see its waterfront. You will also see St. John’s Co-Cathedral and Museum in Valletta. Visit the Oratory, which houses the famous Caravaggio paintings. Enjoy dinner and a restful overnight.
Overnight in Qawra.

October 10 (SU) – Mellieha & Gozo
After breakfast at your hotel, depart for Gozo, a sister island of Malta. Here you’ll visit the Mellieha Sanctuary of Our Lady, a Marian Shrine. Pope John Paul II blessed the Sanctuary during his visit to Malta in 1990. You will be able to enjoy a picturesque view of the Valley of Our Lady, Mellieha Bay, Comino, and Gozo. Later, see Munxar Parish Church, a Baroque-style building dedicated to St. Paul; the Gozo Cathedral of the Assumption; and St. George’s Basilica, known as the golden church of the “Marble Basilica” of Gozo. The relics of St. Clement rest in the Baroque altar in the side chapel of St. Lazarus, which is one of eleven side chapels within the Basilica. Next, visit the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta’Pinu, Malta’s most important pilgrimage site. The narrow rooms on either side of the altar are full of testaments to the local people’s belief in the intercession of Our Lady. Return by ferry to Malta.
Overnight in Qawra.

October 11 (MO) – St. Paul’s Bay, Mosta, Mdina & Rabat
After breakfast at your hotel, another full day of touring awaits. See St. Paul’s Bay by boat, the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Museum in Mdina, the medieval walled city, the Bastions, St. Paul’s Catacombs, and St. Paul’s Grotto. St. Paul’s Grotto is said to be the place where St. Paul took refuge and prayed for three months while trying to convert the Maltese people to Christianity following his shipwreck around 60 AD. Pope John Paul II prayed in the grotto during his 1990 visit. Return to Malta for dinner and your last overnight. (B, D)
