Join us for a Crossroads of Faith: The Protestant Trail in Poland starting at $4,798* from New York on May 11, 2027. Journey through the heart of Poland to encounter deep faith, heroic witness, and sacred history. From Warsaw to Kraków, you’ll walk in the footsteps of saints, martyrs, and modern heroes.
The trip begins with departure from the USA on an overnight flight and arrival in Warsaw for a comprehensive city tour highlighting the rebuilt Old Town, Market Square, Royal Castle, and other landmarks. Travelers then explore Warsaw’s Holy Trinity Church (the largest Lutheran church in Poland) and the beautiful Lazienki Park with its neoclassical palace and amphitheater. The itinerary continues to Torun for a UNESCO-listed medieval Old Town tour emphasizing its Protestant and Hanseatic heritage, plus a visit to the Copernicus House and Museum. Next, the group stops at impressive Malbork Castle en route to Gdansk for a walk along the historic Royal Way, Long Waterfront, merchant houses, St. Mary’s Church, and Neptune Fountain. A scenic train ride takes the group to Krakow, followed by a walking tour of its preserved medieval Market Square, Cloth Hall, and St. Mary’s Church. The tour includes Wawel Castle and Cathedral, the Evangelical-Augsburg Church, and the extraordinary Wieliczka Salt Mines. The final full day covers a reflective visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp and Collegium Maius at the Jagiellonian University, before returning home to the USA.

Meet your driver and guide at Warsaw airport. Enjoy a city tour of Warsaw. After its almost complete devastation during World War II, the city was reborn from the ashes and has developed into a modern center of culture, science, and business. The tour of the city includes the Old Town, which was reconstructed after World War II in a faithful rendering of its original form. At its heart is the Market Square, from where narrow streets lead to medieval defensive walls, the Barbican, St. John’s Cathedral, and the Royal Castle. Check into your hotel for dinner and overnight. (D)

After a leisurely breakfast, prepare to explore more of Warsaw. Begin your day by visiting the Holy Trinity Church, the largest Lutheran church in Poland. The church's recognizable circular design and unique architecture will impress. After some time on my own for lunch, I head to Lazienki Park for a visit. Formerly a hunting ground, it was in the 18th century turned into a classical English landscape park with formal gardens, and the neoclassical Lazienki Palace was built on an island in the park’s lake. There are other stunning sights in the park, including a Greek- and Roman-inspired amphitheater. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight. (B, D)

After breakfast, you will depart for Torun for a city tour. The Old Town of Torun is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Europe. Here you will enjoy a city tour to see some of the town, which has a notable Protestant legacy dating back to the Reformation. As a member of the Hanseatic League, Toruñ had significant German (Lutheran) influence, especially in the 16th and 17th centuries. The city was home to a vibrant Protestant community, and there are still historic Protestant churches and traces of religious coexistence and tension. Enjoy some free time for lunch on your own. This afternoon, visit the Copernicus House and Museum. Highlighting the life of Nicolaus Copernicus, your visit will discuss his revolutionary heliocentric model of the universe. His story prompts reflection on how faith, science, and reform can coexist. Dinner and overnight in Torun. (B, D)

Depart this morning for Gdansk. On the way, you will stop at Malbork Castle. This Castle is Poland's finest fortress, with an impressive collection of medieval artifacts and art on display. This afternoon, you will arrive in Gdansk. The city of Gdansk is blessed with more buildings and monuments than anywhere else in the Baltic region. You can stroll along the historic Royal Way and D³ugie Pobrzeze (the “Long Waterfront”) where you will discover priceless gems, including delightful merchant’s houses, the stately Artus Court, the Gothic Town Hall, the monumental St Mary’s Church towering above the city, and Neptune Fountain – a great symbol of Gdansk. Take a train to Krakow with your guide. Take in the scenic countryside. Upon arrival, enjoy some free time for lunch. Having escaped destruction during World War II, the city has uniquely retained its charming medieval form. Embark on a walking tour exploring the city with your guide. The central Market Square – the largest in Europe – is where several of the city’s architectural and cultural landmarks can be found, such as the Cloth Hall, which today houses a gallery of Polish paintings, and St Mary’s Church, world-famous for its altar carved by Veit Stoss. In the morning, you will visit the Wawel Castle. Here you will see Wawel Cathedral, the coronation site of Polish Kings. Continue to the Evangelical-Augsburg Church to explore the Church's roots in Poland. Then travel to Wieliczka Salt Mines. Descend via stairway into the depths of the earth to see the wonders left behind by the miners, including Chapels and Chandeliers made from salt. (B, D)

Malta Pre-Tour
October 7 (TH) – Depart from Home
Make your way to your local airport, where you will board your overnight flight(s).
October 8 (FR) – Arrive in Malta
Upon arrival, collect your luggage and proceed to the arrival hall, where you will be met by a tour guide and/or driver and transferred to your hotel. Your guide will share the Maltese Islands’ rich history of St. Paul and Christianity, and you will attend Mass at a local church before dinner at your hotel.

October 9 (SA) – The Three Cities
After breakfast at your hotel, depart for a full-day guided excursion to the Three Cities of Vittoriosa, Cospicua, and Senglea. In 1530, the Knights of St. John settled here on the east coast in the creeks of Grand Harbor. Next, see the Miraculous Statue of Jesus Christ the Redeemer in the Oratory of the Basilica, dedicated to the Virgin Mary's birth in Senglea. Later, take a typical harbor boat tour from Vittoriosa across the Grand Harbor to Valletta and see its waterfront. You will also see St. John’s Co-Cathedral and Museum in Valletta. Visit the Oratory, which houses the famous Caravaggio paintings. Enjoy dinner and a restful overnight.

October 10 (SU) – Mellieha & Gozo
After breakfast at your hotel, depart for Gozo, a sister island of Malta. Here you’ll visit the Mellieha Sanctuary of Our Lady, a Marian Shrine. Pope John Paul II blessed the Sanctuary during his visit to Malta in 1990. You will be able to enjoy a picturesque view of the Valley of Our Lady, Mellieha Bay, Comino, and Gozo. Later, see Munxar Parish Church, a Baroque-style building dedicated to St. Paul; the Gozo Cathedral of the Assumption; and St. George’s Basilica, known as the golden church of the “Marble Basilica” of Gozo. The relics of St. Clement rest in the Baroque altar in the side chapel of St. Lazarus, which is one of eleven side chapels within the Basilica. Next, visit the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of Ta’Pinu, Malta’s most important pilgrimage site. The narrow rooms on either side of the altar are full of testaments to the local people’s belief in the intercession of Our Lady. Return by ferry to Malta.

October 11 (MO) – St. Paul’s Bay, Mosta, Mdina & Rabat
After breakfast at your hotel, another full day of touring awaits. See St. Paul’s Bay by boat, the Church of the Assumption of Our Lady, St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Museum in Mdina, the medieval walled city, the Bastions, St. Paul’s Catacombs, and St. Paul’s Grotto. St. Paul’s Grotto is said to be the place where St. Paul took refuge and prayed for three months while trying to convert the Maltese people to Christianity following his shipwreck around 60 AD. Pope John Paul II prayed in the grotto during his 1990 visit. Return to Malta for dinner and your last overnight. (B, D)
